Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.

On October 2 – 4, the Dalai Lama XIV will give teachings and initiations at his home in North India at the the foothills of the Himalayas in Dharamsala.

The value of this trip is that you will see and hear His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetans and Buddhists around the world. He turned 88 years old this year. Seeing him now is only possible during the exercises, he does not meet pilgrims and tourists on other days. Therefore, this event is a unique opportunity to touch live teachings from a bodhisattva, to receive direct transmission from heart to heart.

Some people think the Dalai Lama lives in Tibet. No, he was forced to leave his homeland of Tibet when Tibet was invaded by the Chinese. He was 24 years old at the time. Since then, he has been living in Dharamsala in northern India. This place has been his home and the heart of Tibetan Buddhism for the past 64 years. It is a refuge” for thousands of refugees from Tibet who were unable to stay in their homeland because of the Chinese invasion. Thousands of people from all over the world come here to study and have an audience with the Dalai Lama. Dharamsala is the strongest spiritual place at the foothills of the Himalayas.

Here in Dharamsala we will spend 7 days. In addition to the teachings that will take place in the mornings at the main Tibetan temple in Dharamsala, each day we will have tours of the surrounding area and meet unique people.

We will visit the Dalai Lama’s summer residence, the Norbulinka Traditional Tibetan Art Center. It is established as a place where Tibetan traditions are preserved. Here you can watch the process of creating artworks and buy them: tanks (Buddhist handwritten icons), clothes, woodwork…

We will visit the Dalai Lama’s library, which houses manuscripts smuggled out of Tibet from the 10th to 16th centuries.

We will visit Men-Tsee-Khang Tibetan Medicine Center, consult with doctors (pulse diagnosis) and get health recommendations.

Meet with the official oracle (astrologer) of the Dalai Lama and if we can agree, get a personalized astrological forecast from him.

Let’s take a look at a monk’s debate. Debate is a form of teaching in Buddhism that is very active and entertaining.

Here we can also write down the names of loved ones and the monks will pray for them at the puja (temple service).

So how can you come to North India and not see the Himalayas? We’ll be sure to see them! One day will be devoted entirely to walking in the mountains. We will ascend to the Triund Plateau, which offers spectacular views of the Kangra Valley below and three snow-capped peaks.
