November Holidays in Bhutan

We invite you to visit the mysterious kingdom of Bhutan in November!

You will see the most significant sites of the “Thunder Dragon Kingdom” – Tigress Nest, Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang and many more.

There are many hiking tours to Chagri Monastery , Chimi-Lhakang, and of course, the famous Paro Taksang. The purest mountain air, views of valleys and the Himalayas, all this awaits you on the tour.

We’re going to visit a Bhutanese farmhouse. This will give you an opportunity to get a deeper insight into the culture, lifestyle and cuisine of the Bhutanese.

Natalia was born in 1974 in the Volga region. Translator, guide, journalist (published in Yoga, Empire of Spirit, Wild Yogi magazines).
In 2006 Natalia met her Buddhist Guru in Kathmandu – Lama Rinchen Phuntsok, a heart disciple of Dudjom Rinpoche. In 2008 Natalia finished teaching courses at Ashtanga Yoga Center in Moscow. In 2011 she studied the basics of the Tibetan language at the Manjushri Institute (Darjeeling, India). She studied and practiced the Buddhist tradition of Charya Nitya ritual dance under the direction of Leanne Hunt. Natalia has been living in Nepal and India since 2006, working as a guide. Natasha’s enveloping gentleness and kindness help guests to open up and relax in an unfamiliar land.

Day 1. November 3, 2024, Sunday.
Flight to Paro (2400 м). Transfer to Thimphu (2320 м), 1.5 hours
Arrival in Paro. The transfer to Thimphu town will take 1 hour.
Accommodation, a short rest at the hotel and out for a walk around the capital. Thimphu is a small town. About 100,000 people live here. This is where the royal family has its residence.
Today we will climb to the highest Buddha statue in Asia, Kunzang Phodrang, which offers a magnificent view of Thimphu.
At sunset, we will join people heading to the Memorial Stupa, built in 1974. Together with the locals, you can do a Kora (circumambulation) around the stupa and recite mantras.

Day 2. November 4, 2024, Monday.
Thimphu (2320 м)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Chagri Gompa. This monastery is located in the north of Thimphu valley, half an hour drive from the city and 1.5 hours walk through the forest trail. The monastery was formed in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (the founder of Bhutan). This place is frequently visited by Bhutanese people. It is also one of the major retreat centers. Bhutanese yogis meditate there, some completely abandoning worldly life and spending their lives imprisoned in the practice.
On the way back we will have a picnic on the banks of a glacial river.
In the evening we will go to Tashicho Dzong, the city’s main monastery and royal secretariat.

Day 3. November 5, 2024, Tuesday.
Thimphu (2320 m) – Punakha (1274 m), 3 hours
After breakfast, we will set off to explore the Punakha valley. On the way, we will pass through Dochu-La Pass, which is 3080 meters high. If you are lucky with the weather, you will see the chain of the highest Himalayan peaks. At the pass there is a complex of one large and one hundred and eight small stupas, as well as a monastery.
We will stop to enjoy the beautiful views and take pictures.
Two major Bhutanese rivers, the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu, meet in the Punakha valley. Where they merge is the famous Punakha Dzong, which was built in 1637. Until 1955, Punakha was the capital of the kingdom, and now it is the winter residence of the country’s supreme clergy.
We will also visit Chimi Lhakhang. Chimi-lhakang is believed to have miraculous powers – curing infertility. Many childless couples come to Chimi for blessings.

Day 4. November 6, 2024, Wednesday.
Punakha (1274 m)
Today we will be able to go for a short walk to Kumsum stupa.
Today we’re going to visit a farmhouse. We will meet the kind-hearted hostess and she will show us around the house and farm. Ama Wangmo was born in this house and several generations of her family have grown up here. The main house is about 300 years old and has been added on and changed. There are 5 acres of land surrounding the house, the lot is adjacent to a river with wooden tubs on the bank. It’s a Bhutanese bath. Those who wish will be able to take baths and take a dip in a small waterfall here. Or just to be secluded in nature, there is plenty of space in the estate.

Day 5. November 7, 2024, Thursday.
Punakha (1274m) – Paro (2400m), 3.5 hoursTransferto Paro (3-4 hours). For lunch we can stop at Thimphu. On arrival in Paro we will visit Kichhu Lhakang, one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan. It was founded in the 7th century by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo, thanks to whom Buddhism spread in the Himalayas. Legend has it that Songtsen Gampo used Kichu to exorcise a demoness that had settled in the Himalayas and was terrifying people. Walk around the center, optional souvenir shops. Day 6. November 8, 2024, Friday.Paro. Taktsang-lhakang (3120 м)

Early check-out from the hotel. Hike to Paro Taktsang.
Paro Taktsang is located north of the city of Paro at a dizzying altitude of 3120 meters. To get to the monastery, we will do a 2-3 hour trekking through shady pine forests. The name “taktsang” translates as “tigress’ nest”. The monastery was built in 1692 in a cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 7th century.

A clear color copy of your passport is required for Bhutan visa application. Passport validity – at least 6 months from the date of travel. Before the trip, we send the e-visa and itinerary to your email. These need to be printed out and presented at the counter of the airline carrier to Bhutan. An up-to-date visa is put in your passport upon arrival.

The cost of the tour includes:

  • Superior 4* hotels in Thimphu and Paro, double occupancy;
