Socotra – the pristine island of Bliss, 8 days! If you register by Dec. 1, the tour cost is $1,950

Socotra is an island in Yemen. The name Socotra translates from Sanskrit – Island of Happiness and from Indian – Island of Bliss. Individual tourism is prohibited here.

If you love adventure, are ready for a dose of madness, appreciate the beauty of pristine nature and want to learn new things about a hard-to-reach place on our planet – you’re here! The African archipelago in the Indian Ocean is part of the Republic of Yemen. On the territory of the eponymous island, which is part of the archipelago, there are more than a third of the world’s endemic plants, and its history is connected with Alexander the Great and Vasco da Gama!

Socotra is one of the world’s most isolated archipelagos of continental (non-volcanic) origin; according to one scientific hypothesis, it separated from Africa about 6 million years ago. Socotra’s long isolation from the rest of the world has made it a unique place, home to several hundred species of plants and animals found only here. For this reason, Socotra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There is an incredibly clear and beautiful ocean, there are some amazing beaches in very interesting locations, there are mountains and trekking, there are white marvelous dunes, there are caves and unique trees!

Among the trees of Socotra, Dracaena, the Dragon Tree with its red resin and wide crown resembling a mushroom cap, is considered the pearl of the island. And we will also see the unique blooming of bottle trees. A truly fantastic sight!

In recent years, due to the war in Yemen, entry to Socotra was closed, but since 2021 the situation has improved, regular international flights from Abu Dhabi began to fly there, it became safe to travel. Now is a unique chance to go to the Island of Bliss!

IMPORTANT! Every traveler going to Socotra should understand that it is a wild, sparsely populated island. That is the beauty of it! The Socotrians are the only Muslims who live in caves and makeshift huts. There are virtually no hotels on the island, no toilets with showers. Accommodation during the trip, except for the last night, is in tents. Each participant will be given an individual tent with a mattress and pillow.

We will travel around the island in 4×4 Toyota SUVs (with air conditioning). There will be 3 participants in each car + local driver.

We will have daily swims in the ocean or local freshwater bodies of water. We will have lots of sun, sea, sand, fish, joy and children’s happiness!

We are fed 3 times a day with freshly prepared meals of rice, pasta, fresh fish, freshly baked tortillas. We will try exotic dishes made from local products such as mansef or delicious baked dragon eye fruit.

And onward to the second largest fishing village after the main town of Hadibo – Kalansia. The island seems arid, rocky, and it’s not clear what it’s all about until…. you find yourself at the viewpoint of Detva Lagoon! This is where “the very” Socotra begins!
Emerald, beryl, aquamarine and turquoise shades of the Arabian Sea, cutting long tongues into the shores of the finest light sand, snow-white dunes, infinity of the ocean. Detva Lagoon is famous for its sandy beach, stunning scenery, sea craters, and rich marine life: you can see turtles, giant octopus, balloon fish, stingrays, sea shells, squid and much more.

We will have lunch at Detwa Lagoon, after which you will have the opportunity to walk around this huge nature reserve.
We go down to the lagoon and camp in the campground. Tents will be set up and assembled by our team, as well as rest areas, food; shower and toilet
are available. Sleeping is very comfortable, as for each guest in the tent there is a mattress, a pillow, a set of bed linen, a plaid and a face towel.
