Socotra is an island in Yemen. The name Socotra translates from Sanskrit – Island of Happiness and from Indian – Island of Bliss. Individual tourism is prohibited here.

The African archipelago in the Indian Ocean is part of the Republic of Yemen. On the territory of the eponymous island, which is part of the archipelago, there are more than a third of the world’s endemic plants, and its history is connected with Alexander the Great and Vasco da Gama!
Socotra is one of the world’s most isolated archipelagos of continental (non-volcanic) origin; according to one scientific hypothesis, it separated from Africa about 6 million years ago. Socotra’s long isolation from the rest of the world has made it a unique place, home to several hundred species of plants and animals found only here. For this reason, Socotra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There is an incredibly clear and beautiful ocean, there are some amazing beaches in very interesting locations, there are mountains and trekking, there are white marvelous dunes, there are caves and unique trees!
Among the trees of Socotra, Dracaena, the Dragon Tree with its red resin and wide crown resembling a mushroom cap, is considered the pearl of the island. And we will also see the unique blooming of bottle trees. A truly fantastic sight!
The season on Socotra lasts from October to April. This is the best time to go to Socotra, because the weather is comfortable: not too hot, little wind, and the sea is calm. The temperature stays around +25…+30 °C, you can swim, snorkeling and diving, drive around the island and go trekking.
November – March is considered to be the best time. This is the dry season: there is practically no rain, it is not hot, nature is accessible, and the sea is clean and clear. For those who want more greenery, October and early November are suitable – this is the time when the island is especially fresh and bright after the summer monsoons.
The peak of nature’s activity is February and March, with dragon trees, bottle trees and desert rose blooming. This is also the best time for photos, canyon walks and activity programs.
In recent years, due to the war in Yemen, entry to Socotra was closed, but since 2021 the situation has improved, regular international flights from Abu Dhabi began to fly there, it became safe to travel. Now is a unique chance to go to the Island of Bliss!
IMPORTANT! Every traveler going to Socotra should understand that it is a wild, sparsely populated island. That is the beauty of it! The Socotrians are the only Muslims who live in caves and makeshift huts. There are virtually no hotels on the island, no toilets with showers. Accommodation during the trip, except for the last night, is in tents. Each participant will be given an individual tent with a mattress and pillow.
Attention! We buy your airfare from Abu Dhabi to Socotra and back for you. These are charter flights, which must be purchased as soon as they go on sale. Tickets are limited in number: this is how the number of tourists on Socotra is regulated.
Usually tickets need to be purchased six months in advance. Tickets for Socotra for the fall and winter of 2026-2027 will go on sale in July 2026! Tickets are not on sale, you will not be able to buy them yourself.
We will travel around the island in 4×4 Toyota SUVs (with air conditioning). There will be 3 participants in each car + local driver.
We will have daily swims in the ocean or local freshwater bodies of water. We will have lots of sun, sea, sand, fish, joy and children’s happiness!
We are fed 3 times a day with freshly prepared meals of rice, pasta, fresh fish, freshly baked tortillas. We will try exotic dishes made from local products such as mansef or delicious baked dragon eye fruit.
